FAQ

How do I submit a project on Cut Out + Keep?
Register first here.  Once registered and logged in, CutOutandKeep will display your navbar at the top of the page, just below the COAK logo.
Click on the "Projects" tab - a dropdown menu will appear.  Choose "+Add Your Project," then start typing the steps and uploading photos associated with your project into the interface.
You can also choose the "+Add New" link on the COAK homepage in the box to the right, or the "Add Your Project>>" link in the black bar above it.

How do I get "Likes" or "Hearts"?
Other registered users of CutOutandKeep need to click the button below the project's photos on each dedicated project page.  The button says "Add to Favorites" and looks like this:
Alternatively, people who are not registered members can also "Like" the project - the Facebook Like button is located above the project photos on the same page.

There are a lot of projects that have been around on CutOutandKeep for awhile. They already have a lot of Hearts (i.e., been added to other users' "Favorites"). How can I compete with that?
Not to worry. The number of Hearts that appear under a project are the total number of Hearts they've received since they've been on the site - and we're only counting the Hearts received during the Competition Submission Period (August 15 - September 5, 2010). Everyone is on a level playing field when it comes to the Hearts, though the earlier you can get your project submitted, the longer you'll have for it to accumulate Hearts.

How do I post the Competition Button on my site to encourage people to Like/Heart my project?

The Competition Buttons are located here.  If you want to use the "Like My Project" Button and have the button link to your specific project on CutOutandKeep, first copy the html in the scrollbox
<a href="http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/YOURPROJECTURL" target="_blank"><img src="http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv263/carlyjcais/Ultimate%20DIY%20Competition%20Photos/udc_likebutton.png" border="0" ></a>
into a text editing software like TextEdit (or even straight into an HTML-based widget on your blog).  Go to CutOutandKeep.net and navigate to your project's dedicated page.  Copy the URL of the page.  Go back to the button's HTML and delete the first URL between the "" (up to and including the /YOURPROJECTURL).  Replace it with the URL you coped from CutOutandKeep.  Now the HTML should look like this:
<a href="http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/black-fringed-leather-bag" target="_blank"><img src="http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv263/carlyjcais/Ultimate%20DIY%20Competition%20Photos/udc_likebutton.png" border="0" ></a>
where the title of your project appears after the projects/ subdirectory in the first URL.  Save your widget on your blog, or copy and paste the text into an HTML widget, blog post, or Facebook page, and now visitors to your site can click the button and instantly go to your project on CutOutandKeep.  If you have more than one project listed on CutOutandKeep, you may want to create individual buttons for each, or direct people to the Competition Homepage instead (http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/contests/the-ultimate-diy-competition).

Why is it that only people over the age of 18 can submit a project?

Legal issues - we want to make sure that each person can represent themselves (and not be a minor and therefore, represented by their legal guardians) in their submissions and acceptance of the prizes.
